Workshop 1

Michael ERLHOFF
From Non Intentional Design (NID) to Professional Design

For design and for design education it is very important to observe the empirical reality of design. That is: what do people do with all these designed products, communications and services, how do they very often change them in use to make them useful? – Indeed, this is a real and wonderful source for design improvements and for a truly humane design.

In this workshop we will discuss some examples of NID in order to identify further examples and to think of possibilities as to how these could be transformed into new designs.

“Probably mistakes, misunderstandings and misuse are the most important sources for design.” (St. Moritz Design Summit)
