Design Education Beyond the Design Profession: The Why and the How of Introducing Design to Students in Non-design Disciplines

Design education is not just for preparing students for a career in the creative industries, but for its wider educational values of acquiring life skills of creative thinking, team-working, problem-solving and communication. This workshop will explore a model of how to actualize the development of transferable skills through creative process of design projects by linking design and education e.g. engaging the design industry with secondary and primary schools.

In this workshop participants will experience deliberate tools to activate different styles of thinking that can be applied to the arts or sciences, in study, employment or daily problem-solving activities.
