Leslie LU




Mr. Leslie Lu received his Master of Architecture Degree from Yale University in 1977, and was the recipient of the Japan Ministry of Culture Monbusho Scholarship 1983, where he conducted research in design and urban theory in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Lu, presently serves as the Principal of HKDI & IVE (Lee Wai Lee) and Academic Director (Design Discipline VTC). Prior to the present role, he served as the Vice Principal, Hong Kong Design Institute; the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong; Deputy Academic Director (Design Discipline VTC) and the Head of Department of Product and Interior Design, HKDI. Prior to join HKDI, he was the Head of the Department of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong.

Professionally, Mr. Leslie Lu practiced with Cesar Pelli and Associates, Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. During his Monbusho Scholarship research studies in Japan, he worked with Shinohara Kazuo on the design of the Centennial Hall in the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The Centennial Hall, The Museum of Modern Arts (MOMA) in New York City, together with 333 Wacker Drive Building in Chicago is widely acknowledged by the public and the media as representative architecture of the millennium.

Mr. Lu was Visiting Professor at Yale University and Delft University of Technology, and was assistant lecturer for the Eero Saarinen Chair at Yale University. Mr. Lu lectured and served as design critic in major international universities including Columbia University, Delft University of Technology, Princeton University, Yale University, Shenzhen University, Tongji University, Tsinghua University and the Chinese University Hong Kong.
