Jan Staël von Holstein




Professor Staël von Holstein is a graduate of the Institute of Graphic Arts in Stockholm in Sweden. He began his professional career as a founding member of Unimark International in New York in 1965. This became the leading and first world wide design and brand management consultancy.

 

He was one of the members of the working team, who structured and created The New College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University in Shanghai, where he is currently Professor, D&I Council Board Member, D&A Advisory Board member, director of The Shanghai International and director of the Training Centre for Creative Industry (SIMTEC). He is also on the faculty at The Sino - Italian Centre at Tongj on the IMDM program at the Aalto Tongji Design Factory where he runs large research projects.

 

He is course professor at the Design Management Institute Tsinghua University and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

 

In all of these he has pioneered courses in Brand Strategies and Design Management.

 

More recently he joined the faculties of the Institute of Design Knowledge (IDK) in Hong Kong, the University St. John in Macau, and The HULT International Business School.

 

He is a frequent speaker at world events, covering a broad range of subjects related to design, innovation and brand communications. He is a yearly visitor and has spoken at many of the future strategy conferences, as a fellow of  IIT’s Institute of Design in Chicago.

 

Having spent more than forty five years in the design business working in the US, Europe and Asia, Professor Jan Staël von Holstein is now a world authority in Corporate and Brand Identity creation and Design Management.
