Ms Jo Lau Yuk-lan strives to motivate, engage and inspire growth in her students towards sustainability. Her sustainability-centred teaching aspiration is not limited to the classroom. She adopts for students an experiential learning approach featuring visits to the underprivileged in local communities as a foundation for up-cycling workshops to turn waste into marketable products, business undertakings to bring the products to the market, and internship attachments to global fashion companies. She demonstrates that experiential learning offers an education option that most effectively connects the academic with practice through engaging and empowering students, fosters a new possibility in interdisciplinary curriculum, and links students to work experience and job opportunities.
