F&T Fashion and Technology - Global Connections, Local Roots

Fashion is about connecting the past, present and future.
This is also the synopsis of F&T, the new bachelor program of the University of Art and Design Linz.

In Fashion, technology has always been a catalyst for innovation.
Nowadays one of the biggest influences on fashion comes from digital technologies inspiring and enabling novel design and production processes.
F&T is among the first programs worldwide to recognize this epochal change.

Students are introduced to state-of-the-art technology but also to traditional crafts that sometimes still outperform all high tech developments.
Hence, F&T is creating an environment where the old and the new, the local and the global are woven into a new texture.

Our studios are located at Tabakfabrik Linz, a historical industrial site and now home to creative industries and think tanks.
Students are able to connect to the context of our surroundings including 3D-print-companies or studios specialized in augmented reality design.

The combination of theory and practice, art and industry, craft and technology is also mirrored in our creative partnerships with Ars Electronica, the Textile Center Haslach, LCM and Lenzing AG, where our students are offered the unique opportunity to learn from practice.
